How Going Green Saves You the Green in Your Wallet

Jan 24th, 2010 by caldru

Now that going green has become all the buzz, it becomes easier and easier to find examples of how going green can save you a bundle of green. Kermit the Frog was wrong – it IS easy being green. It is not only smart but going green can save you the green in your wallet at the same time. It is a sad but true fact that our planet is facing a period of warming. It is our actions as humans that are believed to be the prime cause. It makes sense to seek out examples of how going green saves you money and act on them.
That cell phone charger that stays plugged in, the DVD player that waits for the occasional playing, and the TV that sits on standby all night, these are prime examples of how going green saves you money – if you unplug them, that is. For even if the items are not working, they are consuming energy!
You can also easily go green just by switching from bottled water to filtered tap water. On average a typical family spends some $1,400 a year on bottled water. That is not even the worst part. By not recycling over 95% of the plastic bottles end up in the garbage and land fills world wide! It is worthwhile investing less than $100 and you could get a high quality staged water filter to make your tap water perfect. Then just go and purchase stainless steel water bottles, as they over come the need for plastic and last a long time.
Here is yet another example of how easy going green can save you money. They are simple every day things and are everywhere. If you have a lead gas foot and drive as fast as the law allows or faster, you should think more about how much it is costing you. Your cars engines performs most efficiently at around 55 miles an hour. Combine that with gentle driving on properly inflated tires, you will save money and help the planet too.
Have you considered using a bicycle to travel around town? To get some fresh air simply walk for those short trips. By reducing your carbon footprint you won’t be pouring hydrocarbons into the atmosphere which is what is warming the planet. You will also be saving money. A side benefit is that you will get some good exercise at the same time. Walking and cycling when you can are excellent examples of how going green saves you money.
Out of the 65 million newspapers that are printed just in the US alone, 70% of them will not be recycled. What a shame and a waste of trees! It is easy to do your bit to help. It will take some changing of habits but you can read whatever news you want to read at the same time simply by just going online. Very few newspapers don’t have an online presence these days, so save some money and read from the web pages.
Do you want more example of how going green saves you money? They are all around you. Just look and you certainly will find them.

Watch Out For The Danger Of Low Quality Bottled Water – Find A Better Alternative Here

Jan 23rd, 2010 by caldru

There are no two ways about it. It has already been proven that the water coming out from our kitchen tap is just not suitable for our consumption. Not only is it impure, it is unsafe too!

Using bottled water may sound like an option here. But do you know that there are numerous quality issues circling around it too?

Let us learn more about the danger of low quality bottled water and the ways to get away from it.

The first and foremost danger is proven by the fact that the quality regulation standards for bottled water are terribly low. As a result, the reality is that bottled water is nothing better than the tap water.

There are numerous impurities present in it. The contaminants especially those like chlorine and asbestos are known to be associated with cancer and various other serious health disorders. This is one of the main reasons why various health organizations discourage the use of bottled water.

Another danger of low quality bottled water is due to the plastic used for bottling up this water. All plastic containers leach plastic byproducts like phthalate and BPA into the water. This further addition of contaminants lowers the quality of the water even more.

The danger of low quality bottled water is not restricted to our health alone, it affects the entire planet! Remember the slogan “say no to plastic”? These plastic bottles are a major contributor to the environmental pollution and this is another reason why they should be strictly avoided.

The best and easy option to get pure and safe water is to install a water purifier at your home. The ones based on advanced technologies like that of ion exchange and sub micron filtration are known to be the best.

They not only filter out all contaminants from the water, but also retain the essential and required minerals present naturally in the water. The purifiers based on Reverse Osmosis are notorious for stripping these essential minerals off and thus causing multiple mineral deficiencies. It is better to avoid such filters.

Drinking water coming out from your purifier is the best way to keep yourself away from the danger of low quality bottled water. While going out, remember to bottle up your self purified water and carry it along.

There are nice stainless bottles available in the market. Steel not only makes them durable and safe but also helps in making an excellent style statement. Whether it is your work place or your gym, you will love the ease of carrying and using them.

Now that you are aware about the danger of low quality bottled water, take a step forward and find out more about the latest home water purifiers. They are the best and the only way to ensure the quality of the water that your family is consuming.

You can start you research with my recommendation of an effective, efficient and economical water purifier. Visit my website listed below for more details.

Can Your Car Really Run On Water?

Jan 22nd, 2010 by caldru

A great resolution to rising gas prices is to convert your car to run on water. This is accomplished by using electrolysis and water to produce HHO gas which is also known as Browns Gas. While your car will not in principle be a water car, you will be able to improve gas mileage and according to demanding tests it is not rare at all to see gas mileage increases of 15-200%.
Believe it or not, HHO gas technology is really not that new, but because of the recent increase in diesel and gas costs the demand has brought this hydrogen technology back into the spotlight. You have probably noticed the water car in the news recently making an impact.
When you adapt your vehicle to run on water not only will you improve gas mileage but you will also see cleaner emissions. This is potentially the answer to finally getting cars to pass emissions tests and help the environment. Your car or truck will also run cooler thus improving engine life. This system works for both ordinary gas engines and diesel motors. Many users also report improvements in engine power with this new system. Additionally, drivers have noticed that their engines run smoother, quieter and with less vibration.
Having this in mind there are companies out there selling these hydrogen on demand kits for hundreds of dollars. In fact, some are asking for thousands of dollars. Even a HHO car kit purchase on a popular auction site sill set you back several hundred dollars. Of course, paying these prices would be worth it in the long run, but it is not necessary.
What if you could put together a system for lower than hundred dollars or possibly even less? Most parts can be located around your house or garage and the ones that can not be found at home can be easily found around town. All the system demands is a sealed bottle such as a canning jar, some vacuum hose, electrical wiring, and inline fuse that you purchase from your automotive store and a tablespoon of baking soda that is used for a catalyst and distilled water. You will need to find some stainless steel wire but even if you can not find that around town particularly if you live in a small town it can be found online. Bottom line is that this is not rocket science. If you are a backyard mechanic or like to construct things with your hands then this is an effortless project. If you have a few cars you would like to switch just think of the potential savings.
When you switch your car to use water then you have a system you can replicate and save money both on the system and possibly save fuel too! You could boost gas mileage and enhance power by utilizing hydrogen on demand. Not only would you save thousands of dollars on buying a hybrid car or one that gets better gas mileage but you could also possibly save thousands of dollars a year on gas.

Bored With Water?

Jan 21st, 2010 by caldru

We all know that water is the healthiest drink on the planet.  It has been drilled into our heads to drink 8 glasses of water a day.  Every where you go you see people carrying around water bottles which is definitely a good thing.  Water is much healthier than soda which was the hip thing to carry around not too long ago.  We just need to recycle those cute plastic bottles so they don’t end up in a land fill somewhere.  Or better yet, invest in an aluminum or stainless steel reusable water bottle that is easy to clean.  Never the less, there are many other healthy drink options available today if you need a variation in your life from plain, boring water.

Tea is one of the top three healthiest drinks and the most commonly consumed besides water.  Tea leafs diffused in hot water contain a wealth of antioxidants that boost our immune systems and protect against infections.  Along with ant-aging benefits, tea is also known to combat cancer causing cells.  It is often an alternative for non coffee drinkers or people trying to wean them selves off it.  Coffee has been known to cause an upset stomach if you drink too much on an empty stomach or if it’s too strong.   Green tea protects the body from autoimmune disorders while it aids in digestion, promotes weight loss, and lowers cholesterol and blood pressure.

Grape juice can also boast one of the healthiest drinks ever!  It’s often fermented and made into wine, brandy, or vinegar.  Like tea, it is high in antioxidants.  It’s right up there with pomegranate juice!  Certain kinds of grape fruit juices as well as wine have high levels of polyphenols which can prevent cardiovascular illnesses.  It can also lower the risk of developing blood clots which can lead to heart attacks.  By adding these healthy drinks to your diet you will feel better mentally and physically.

Camping Water Filter Solutions

Jan 20th, 2010 by caldru

Keeping your hydration at a high level is important when tackling the great outdoors. The loss of concentration, disorientation and false judgment are all risks that you’re exposed to if you don’t take special care to provide your organism with regular supply of fresh clean water. The direct use of bottled water isn’t always a good solution. The water stagnates, especially in long and far away camping destinations, thus using a camping water filter is a much better alternative.Depending on the size of your group there are different types of filters available. The plethora of models offered by numerous brands often tend to be confusing when you’re trying to choose your portable water filter. There are a few things you should know in order to avoid making the mistake of buying a low quality system that may be unreliable and cause potential harm to yourself or fellow campers. For large groups of people that are often found at base camps and relief organizations, there are some very good expedition filters like the Katadyn KFT, made of hardened stainless steel and big enough to cope with the demand of the group. Advanced removal systems help you keep your water clean, fresh and tasty by filtering out particles, parasites and other organic substances, and providing silver treated ceramic element that takes care of bacterial growth at a micro-level. Pumping capacity and weight are important factors here and for reference, the Katadyn model offers a rate of 4L per minute, weighting around 5 kg.A smaller water filter is very suitable for a more private usage, but that doesn’t mean you should make compromises on the quality of the service it provides. Using the excellent Katadyn Pocket Water Filter model as a guide, we’re looking at a very comfortable unit, with a shock absorbing pump handle and attachable outlet hose to make filling up bottles with filtered water a much easier task. Using the same technologies as its bigger brother, this light portable filter, weighting just half a kilo, takes out even the very small bacterias and protozas from the water, at the rate of 1L per minute. Guaranteed to last up to 50 thousand liters if used correctly, such a filter system can serve you for many years. If you are an active camper or a camping group, make sure to take care of yours and everyone else’s health, and safety, by accommodating a filter unit in your backpack. Once you taste the fresh purified water and feel the benefits first-hand, you won’t think of going out without your camping water filter ever again.

Are You Sure About The Bottled Water Quality That You Are Using?

Jan 18th, 2010 by caldru

Bottled Water Quality

Recent studies have shown that around 80,000 chemicals are found in tap water and out of which more than 2,100 are known to be carcinogens. This factual statement is sufficient to understand the risk involved in consuming such contaminated water.

The good news is that many people today understand this. And as a result they are open to explore options to find out the ways to prevent themselves and their families from consuming such bad water.

The sad news is that many people consider using bottled water as an option.

If you too are one of them, let me ask you a simple question. What is the guarantee of bottled water quality?

The fact of the matter is that the U.S regulations for bottled water quality are terribly weak. Many companies today take advantage of this fact and whatever bottled water they supply; it is actually nothing better than tap water!

With the quality of bottled water being unknown, there is nothing better and safer than home purified water. And the best part is that these home water purifiers are available at a very reasonable price.

They are capable of removing all organic, inorganic and chemical impurities from the water.

A word of caution here – many water purifiers, especially the ones based on the principle of Reverse Osmosis, strip away natural and required minerals from the water. These minerals are essentially required in our body and lack of them can lead to deficiencies and ailments.

The best choice of water purifiers are the ones based on advanced techniques of carbon filtration, sub micron filtration and ion exchange. They ensure a pollutant free and mineral rich water supply to you.

Now you may argue here that home water purifiers are good but what about the times when you are going out say for shopping, gym, office etc?

Well, I understand there are times when bottled water becomes an absolute essentiality. In such situations, I prefer European brands because their purity standards are much stricter. This surely helps in ensuring the bottled water quality.

However, there is another easy and fool proof alternative available for such occasions when you are out of the reach of your home water purifier system. And that is to bottle up your trustable home purified water and carry it along.

Remember to use stainless steel containers because plastic is another thing which brings the bottled water quality in jeopardy. All plastic bottles leach plastic byproducts like BPA into the water which affect both the taste and purity of the water.

Another nice option is to use a portable water purifier. Now while they may sound like a something highly technical but in reality they are slightly modified version of a regular water bottle.

They have a small and reliable water purifier installed on the top. You have the entire freedom of re-filling this purifier from any source of water and it will take care of filtering it and making only clean and pure water available to you.

Now that you know that bottled water quality is something that cannot be trusted upon, take action today. Explore the better alternatives of using a home water purifier system. If you need my recommendation of one such advanced and affordable water purifier, visit my website listed below.

Pay Attention To Your Drinking Water Containers

Jan 16th, 2010 by caldru

I was shocked to know that something as minor as our drinking water containers can be dangerous enough to cause hormonal disruptions! And that is the simple and plain reason why they need all our attention.

I understand that you are already aware about the importance of drinking clean and pure water. And you have already ensured the same by using good in-house water purifier systems. No doubt, the multi-stage water filters which are gaining popularity these days are the best way to filter out all sorts of contaminants from water. But tell me, how do you store this filtered water?

I am sure; the answer of 8 out of 10 people is going to be the same and that is – plastic bottles. Do you know by doing so you have just wasted all your effort done for ensuring pure and clean water? These plastic drinking water containers are mostly made up of a synthetic chemical compound called Bisphenol A (BPA).

When water is stored in these plastic containers, BPA gradually seeps into the water. Since BPA is a hormone disruptor, consuming water contaminated with it can lead to severe damages like permanent changes to the genital tract, increase in prostate weight, decline in testosterone, breast cells predisposed to cancer etc.

I am sure this has been a surprise to you too. After all these plastic bottles are so commonly used, that no one expects such harm from it.

To put you to relief, let me share about an alternative to these ill drinking water containers. Glass is the best material for storing drinking water. It maintains the pure quality and taste of filtered water. Unlike plastic it does not break down and contaminate the water.

Another alternative is to use stainless steel drinking water containers. The ones available in market today have great stylish looks and are durable too. They are available in different sizes and colors and are another way to keep water BPA free. Some of them come with a washable carrier which not only eases carrying the water; it provides protection and insulation too.

Apart from health benefits, these glass and stainless steel containers have environmental benefits too. The way plastic is harmful to the environment is a much talked about topic. Saying no to plastic will help in doing our bit for saving the environment.

So there you have it. Not only the drinking water but its containers are significant too. Make sure that you replace your plastic drinking water containers with glass or stainless steel and ensure the complete health of your family.

Do You Drink 8 Glasses Of Water A Day?

Jan 15th, 2010 by caldru

When was the last time you drank 8 glasses of water in one day? Just plain tap, filtered or sparkling water is best.
The average person should consume between 4-10 glasses of water each day, depending on the amount of fluid lost, and the size of your glass. Drinking water restores balance to your body’s tissues; it keeps us hydrated as well as our bodies working at the optimal level.
Soft drinks and juice contain ingredients such as sugars, sweeteners, and caffeine that disrupt the fluid balance in our tissues and can actually create a dehydrated state.
It is a myth that the more one drinks the more you will use the bathroom. A concentrated amount of urine in your bladder from not drinking enough water, or the presence of caffeine and sweeteners may irritate your bladder and lead to more trips to the bathroom. A good way to know if you are well hydrated is if your urine is clear and odorless.
The standard recommendation is to consume eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. That is a lot more than it seems, though it can be easy to incorporate into your day. Start your morning with a glass of water and end your day with another glass. Drink one at each meal, another with an afternoon snack, one before and after you exercise. That is 8 glasses.
For reference 1 cup holds 8-ounces of liquid, a glass about 4 inches tall, roughly the length of your index finger, holds 8 ounces, a can of soda is typically 12-ounces, and a pint glass is 16-ounces, as well as many plastic soda bottles.
Other good ways to increase your water intake include substituting plain water the next time you think to buy a soda, drink a larger glass of water first thing in the morning and the next time you feel hungry drink a glass of water instead of eating a snack.
Bottled water is a good option, and water from your sink, refrigerator filter or fountain is the best choice. There is a lot of waste produced with each bottle of water; including the materials to make the plastic bottle, label and cap, and the fuel for the truck that brings it to you. Roughly 86% of plastic water bottles are thrown away as trash into our landfills and may take more than 1,000 years to biodegrade.
Reuse your next bottle or buy a reusable bottle locally (aluminum, stainless steel, plastic or glass), all can be cleaned and reused. You don’t have to spend lots of $$ to get one. A glass bottle with a screw on, ceramic or porcelain cap to drink your water is a great way to minimize consumption while drinking pure water. You can buy a Lorina Juice bottle or similar drink with a ceramic or porcelain cap for approximately $3.99 or a specialty beer, such a Rougue, $6-10. You can then drink the liquid, rinse and re-use. A store bought reusable bottle, such as a SIGG or a Kleen Kanteen, will save you money over the life of the bottle. Even though the packs of 24 and 36 bottles of water at the grocery store may be tempting because they are inexpensive, reusing one bottle is still less expensive.
Using a reusable water bottle is the most economical and environmentally responsible choice, especially since the glass, aluminum and stainless steel bottles can be recycled after their very long life.
If you feel thirsty, take a drink.
